Everyone has their food preferences and there are countless diets out there encouraging different food choices. But water is the one thing we all consume every single day. But could drinking a lot of water actually help you lose weight?
Several studies have found that among people who are following a weight-loss plan, those who drank the most water lost the most weight.
An overall increase in consumption isn’t the only way water has been linked to weight loss.
Research suggests that drinking water before meals can expedite weight loss. In two studies, researchers found that overweight people who drank 500ml (around 17 ounces) of water a half hour before every meal lost more weight than those who didn’t consume pre-meal water.
It’s highly unlikely that water itself has weight loss properties. But it definitely has the ability to help you feel full. It’s surprisingly common to mistake thirst for hunger, so sipping on water throughout the day can eliminate so-called hunger pangs, which is probably going to result in less food consumption. And reducing your food intake is what’s going to keep the number on the scale moving down!
Unlike so many other beverages, water is also calorie-free. Even “healthy” drinks like 100 percent fruit juice, naturally sweetened iced tea, and vegetable-boosted smoothies add calories to your daily intake. Every time you reach for water instead of another beverage, you’re saving yourself from excess calories.

How can this be?
By replacing some of the traditional ingredients (like ground beef) with healthier – yet very flavorful – options, we can reduce the calorie count of these stuffed peppers by 100 calories each! And we totally eliminate the saturated fat and cholesterol! And I added 5 grams of fiber!
Low-fat and super flavorful, these stuffed bell peppers.
* 4 large, sweet bell peppers
* 1 tablespoon olive oil
* 1/2 large sweet onion (or one small), diced small
* 2 - 3 cloves garlic, crushed
* 1 3/4 cups cooked brown rice
* 2 small to medium tomatoes, diced small
* 3/4 cups corn kernels (drained if canned)
* 1/2 cup (one 2.5 ounce can) sliced olives, drained
* 3/4 cup cooked black beans or red beans, lightly rinsed and drained well
* 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley – optional
* 2 teaspoons granulated onion
* 1 teaspoon dried basil
* 1 teaspoon dried oregano
* 1/8 teaspoon paprika
* 3/4 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 cup vegetable broth
* 1/2 cup crumbled, extra-firm (water-packed - not silken) tofu seasoned with 1/2 teaspoon granulated onion and 1/4 teaspoon salt (See note below about alternative toppings.)
1. Cut the bell peppers in half .
2. remove the stem part.
3. Heat oil in a large pan and sauté the diced onions over medium-high heat for 2 to 3 minutes or until they just begin to soften.
4. Add garlic and rice and sauté for one additional minute.
5. Stir in tomatoes, corn, olives, beans, and seasonings. Remove from heat.
6. Remove seeds and membranes from the insides of the peppers. Fill peppers with rice mixture, packing tightly so as to fill with as much mixture as possible. Place peppers in baking dish.
7. Sprinkle tops with crumbled tofu or other topping. (While a tofu or cheese topping really adds to these stuffed peppers, they taste great even without any topping, so if you don't have anything on hand, no worries.)
8. Cover and bake at 375°F for 30 minutes.
I like to use seasoned, crumble tofu instead of cheese for many dishes that normally call for cheese, including these stuffed peppers, because:
1. it’s easy
2. it’s a much healthier option than cheese
3. it tastes good
4. Did I mention it’s easy?
Sharing with you, my favorite, warm, meaty without meat, no-fuss, creamy, and healthy bowl of mushroom soup. With a portabella & alba mushrooms this soup is comforting, healthy, and packed with flavor.
One of my favorite way to add a healthy dose of wild mushrooms in our diet . I have used portabella & alba mushrooms for this soup, you can use any combination you prefer. Sometimes, I add dried morels (or fresh if I can find some).
1tbsp of pine nuts 2 tbsps olive oil
1 medium onion, medium dice (~ 1 1/2 cups)
4 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 lb. fresh mushrooms, wiped clean, trimmed, and thinly sliced (~ 4 1/2 cups) – I used portabella & alba mushrooms
1/2 oz. bag of dried porcini mushrooms, rehydrated in 1-2 cups boiling water (reserve the liquid, but leave any sandy dregs behind) – this is optional, but I did it
2 tbsps plus 1 tsp fresh herbs 1/2 tsp salt to taste
1/2 tsp ground black pepper to taste
4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
1 tbsp soy sauce
In a large pot heat the olive oil over medium-high. Sauté the onions until they are browned, about 4 minutes. Add the garlic and stir about for a minute. Then add the mushrooms, 2 tablespoons of thyme, salt, pepper, and cook until the mushrooms begin to wilt (in a couple of minutes). Pour in the broth and the porcini liquid making sure to scrape up any fond that has formed on the bottom of the pan (the good browned bits). Bring to a boil over high heat and then reduce to a simmer. Cook for about 7 to 10 minutes until the mushrooms are tender. Remove the soup from the heat and let it cool slightly. Either using a food processor, a blender, or an immersion blender, purée about half of the soup. Return the purée to the pot and stir into The soy sauce. Season with more salt and pepper to taste. Reheat as needed. Garnish with fresh herbs and pine nuts that have been browned . Serves six. enjoy ,
